Strickland, 74, of Anacoco, were held Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at 2 p.m., in the Good Hope Baptist Church in Anacoco. Officiating was Rev. Huey Haymon, I. D. Noble, and W. T. Love. Interment was at the Good Hope Cemetery, with full military honors, under the direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home in Leesville. Mr. Strickland died Friday, Dec. 20, at the V.A. Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was a native of Sabine Parish, but had lived in Vernon for a number of years. He was a disabled U.S. Army veteran of World War II, recipient of the Purple Heart, and a deacon of Good Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Sudie Strickland of Anacoco; three sons, Billy Strickland, Danny Strickland, and Kenny Strickland, all of Anacoco; four daughters, Ruby Addison, JoAnn Dixon, Martha Williams, and Libby Owen, all of Anacoco; 16 grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
