The death was ruled a suicide by Caddo Parish Coroner, Dr. Willis Butler. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Monday, at Ford Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Billy J. Pierce, pastor of Ford Park Baptist Church, and the Rev. Eugene Spruell, pastor of Western Hills Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Florien, with graveside services at 2 p.m., under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home. Mr. Stewart, a native of New Orleans, and a 20-year resident of Shreveport, was a student of Louisiana State University in Shreveport. He was a member of the American Legion, and Ford Park Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Mollie Rachal Stewart of Shreveport; one brother, Ronnie Stewart of Tacoma Park, Md.; one sister, Jan Walker of Shreveport; his paternal grandfather, G. C. Stewart Sr., of Florien, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. J. W. Rachal of Goldonna. Pallbearers were Ronnie James, John Wheeks, Jack Bryant, Mac Groves, Ricky Walker, and Ronnie Gardner.
