Douglas Wayne Stewart, 27, of Florien, died on May 1, at 6 p.m., in Zargoza, Spain, as a result of an automobile accident. Funeral services were held Monday, May 7, at 2 p.m., in the Florien First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Delman Rogers, and a Chaplain of England AFB, officiating. Burial followed in the Florien Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jackson Salter, Dale Ellzey, Mark Chaplain, Victor Smith, Ken Miller, and Jeffery Williams. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Beverly Stewart of Florien; one daughter, Laura Stewart of Florien; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Stewart of Florien; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stewart of Florien; and two sisters, Beverly Thaxton, and Lana Sue Anthony, both of Florien. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the educational memorial fund for Laura Stewart in care of Sabine State Bank.
