Horace Layton Stewart

  Horace Clay Stewart, 78, of Florien, died Wednesday, Dec. 27,
2000, at Sabine Medical Center.

  Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 29, at Mt. Carmel
Baptist Church, with interment following at Florien Cemetery. The
Rev. Larry DeLoach officiated. Mr. Stewart enjoyed the love,
respect, and kindness of all who knew him. He was blessed with
many friends, and was a kind and gentle soul. Horace will be
missed by those who knew and love him.

  Survivors include his widow, Shirley Stewart of Florien; two
daughters, Beverly Thaxton of Leesville, and Susie and husband
Greg Sculthorpe of Florien; one sister, Marie Lee of Yukon,
Okla.; and two brothers, Kenneth Stewart of Bethany Okla., and
Wayne Stewart of Many.

  Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy and Douglas
Stewart.
