Stewart, 82, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 2, at the First Baptist Church of Mansfield. Officiating was Dr. William Crosby. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Mansfield. Mr. Stewart died Tuesday, July 30, in Mansfield, after a lengthy illness. He was born January 8, 1909, in DeSoto Parish, where he taught school for several years. After serving in the U. S. Navy in WWII. He was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Florida for 30 years. He returned to Mansfield, and opened his own CPA office. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, where he taught a Sunday School Class. He was active in the Mansfield Lions Club, the DeSoto Parish Historical Society, the Heart Fund, and taught once a month at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He is survived by his wife, Martha Edge Stewart of Mansfield; two brothers, Edison Stewart of Ruston, and James Stewart of Converse; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Hazel Garner of Shreveport; one brother-in-law, G. B. Edge and his wife Leta of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews. Members of Mr. Stewart's Sunday School Class served as pallbearers.
