Stewart, who was a lifelong resident of Florien, was a farmer, and former school bus driver. Survivors include his three sons, G. C. Stewart Jr. of Shreveport, Grover Stewart of Winnfield, and Lee Stewart of Florien; two daughters, Mrs. Eloise Thorton of Natchitoches, and Mrs. Iris Weldon of Many; a twin brother, Clarence Stewart of Florien; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m., in the Cenchrea Nazarene Church of Florien. The Rev. Earl Marr, assisted by the Rev. James Peters officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Dale Stewart, Joe Stewart, Glenn Stewart, Mark Stewart, Tony Stewart, and Jimmie Weldon. Honorary pallbearers were Steven Parker of Florien, Kevin McKee of Baton Rouge, Phillip Weldon of Lake Charles, and Stuart Quarles of Many.
