Wayne Reed officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. Sterling died, May 2, in the Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. He was a retired logger. Survivors include one brother, Tom Sterling of Vidor, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Winnie Williams of Beaumont; five half brothers, Lum Sterling, Huey Sterling, both of Hornbeck, Bill Sterling of Many, Henry Sterling of Joplin, Mo., and Huey Stidivent of Vidor, Tex.; four half sisters, Mrs. Alice Eaco, and Mrs. Mattie Mames, both of Hornbeck, Mrs. Bertha Sharp of Shelbino, Mo., and Mrs. Annie Bean of Albuquerque, N. M.; and his stepmother, Mrs. Mattie Sterling of Hornbeck.
