Strain 27 Apr 1951 - Friends and relatives of Charles A. Strain of Pleasant Hill were shocked and saddened at his sudden passing Saturday evening, April 21. Mr. Strain was a native of Philadelphia, Penn, and is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary Thomnson, and two brothers, James and Joseph Strain, all of Philadelphia. He had been in ill health for some time but seemingly had felt much better recently, retired as usual Saturday evening about 11:30 p.m. Mrs. Strain was awakened suddenly by his deep breathing and in just a few minutes he was gone. Mr. Strain was a veteran of Worth War I, having served two years overseas. Mrs. Strain is librarian and also reporter for the Index, at Pleasant Hill and we extend to her our sincere sympathy in this sad hour. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery with Pleasant Hill American Legion post members and Rev. J. A. Benoit of Many conducting the service. Mr. Strain had many friends in Pleasant Hill, even though he had lived there only a few years. Sibie, as he was known to his friends, will be missed and to them we add this thought "A life well spent for the good of others, brings at its close, peace to the soul."
