Officiating was the Rev. Joe Ratcliff, pastor of First Baptist Church of Many. Burial was in the Many Cemetery in Many. Mr. Slay Sr., a native of Toro, La., and resident of Shreveport for the past 23 years, died at 12:59 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, 1983, at South Park Hospital, following a short illness. Mr. Slay Sr. was a sales manager for Frank Wholesale, a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Marine Veteran, WWII, and member of the V. F. W. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lou Slay of Shreveport; two sons, Dennis O. Bovett, and Alfred Alvin Slay Jr., of Shreveport; three daughters, Judy Anderson of Bossier City, Linda Lee, and Grace Hill of Shreveport; six sisters, Carrie Westbrook, Linda Pynes, Maude Thedford, Allie Sirman, Lee Wagley, and Louise Wagley, all of Many, La.; and five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
