Rev. Michael Johnson officiated, with Rev. Shannon Oglee assisting. Interment followed at Pollard Cemetery in Lula. Mr. Salley died Tuesday, January 29, at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of DeSoto Parish, and attended the Beulah Baptist Church. He was a member of the Northwestern Chapter of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, and the High Cotton Country Cloggers Dance Group. He was employed from 1979-1983, as a Minute Clerk for the Caddo Parish Courts; from 1983-1990, he was a Minute Clerk for DeSoto Parish Courts, and in March of 1990, he became a Civil Deputy for the DeSoto Parish Sheriff Department. Mr. Salley made a lot of friends, and will be remembered as a thoughtful and caring person. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Clayton English, and Charlie Salley. Survivors include his parents, C. W., and Mary Louise Salley of Converse; one brother and his wife Ronnie Lynn, and Tina Sheree Salley of Converse; his grandmothers, Mable English, and Aylean Salley, both of Converse; two nephews, Joshua Lynn Salley, and Joseph Todd Salley, both of Converse; one uncle, Jimmie Salley of Shreveport; two great uncles and their wives, Coyt and Lois Smith of Port Arthur, Texas, Melvin and Thelma Whitlock of Buffalo, Texas; four great aunts, Mrs. Velma Pyle of Mansfield, Mrs. Mamie Daniels of Logansport, Mrs. Marie Harper and her husband Theopolus of Converse, and Mrs. Grace Daughtery and her husband Rannie of Converse.
