Self, age 83, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 10, in a Kerrville hospital. He was born September 10, 1908, in Many, Louisiana, and had been a Kerrville resident for 3 years, formerly residing in Pocatello, Idaho. He was a retired veterans service officer, having served for 30 years with the State Department of Veterans Affairs in Many, Louisiana. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and Little Flock Masonic Lodge in Negreet, Louisiana. He married Mary Catherine Whitner on June 15, 1941, in Wheatland, Oklahoma. Survivors are his wife, Mary Catherine Self of Kerrville; two daughters, Nancy M. Self of Boise, Idaho, and Barbara C. Boerner of Houston, Texas; three sons, Stephen W. Steve of Seattle, Washington, R. Stanton Self of Salt Lake City, Utah, and S. Keith Self of Escondido, California; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Self were held on Wednesday, May 13, at 2 p.m., at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with Dr. Bill Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Rest Cemetery.
