As he donated his body to science for use in research, there will be no funeral, so no flowers please. If you would like to make a contribution in his name, please do so to LSU School of Medicine. Please bring a dish, and celebrate with us. Asa J. Self, 78, died after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday, Nov. 29. He was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Bruce Ramsey of Oklahoma, James David Self of Fisher; three daughters, LaQuinta Teakle of Texas, Wanda Carter of Florien, and Patricia Pilcher of Fisher; 12 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; three sisters, Juanita Hawkins of New York, Lula Self of Many, and Emmie Byrd of Florien. Rev. Roy Dowden of Hornbeck, Rev. Earl Marr of Natchitoches, and Travis McCullough of Many will lead the "Celebration of His Life".
