Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 18, at Trinity Baptist Church in Fort Jesup. The Rev. Truman Leach, the Rev. Glen Flenniken, and the Rev. H. H. Tibbitts officiated. Full Military Honor Guard services were conducted. Mr. Self was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Self was born in Shreveport, January 5, 1942, and resided in Many for 56 years. He retired from the Louisiana National Guard, after 21 years of service. He was also a deputy for the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office for 22 years. He will be remembered for his dedication and service to his community by his many friends. Survivors include his beloved and devoted wife of 16 years, Elizabeth Self; two sons, Jody Self and wife Debbie of Shreveport, and Davis Allen Self and wife Lanell of Many; two daughters, Lynn Chism and husband Hugh of Many, and Renee Green of Bossier City; eight grandchildren, Lacy, Patricia, Bradley, and Cody Chism, Blake, and Ainslee Brooks, and Dalton, and Haley Self; two brothers, Rodney Self of Atlanta, Ga., and William Self of Pineville; two sisters, Shirley Bugg of Many, and Brenda Nash of Belmont, also Sandra Self; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. self was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Self Sr., and Ora Lee Self; and one granddaughter, Kristian Self. Pallbearers were members of the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Department, Jerry Raye Singletary, Ben DuBose, Tommy Raimond, Tommy Sandel, Jimmy Patton, Earl Branden, Jack Staten, and Harold Dillard.
