Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 6, at Fisher Baptist Church, with interment following at Prospect Methodist Cemetery. The Rev. Hoy Leach, Rev. Kenneth Leach Sr., and Rev. Earl Marr officiated. Military graveside services were conducted by a unit from the Barksdale Air Force Honor Guard. Survivors include widow, Adell P. Sills; four sons, James Vernon Sills Jr. and wife Laurie of Pineville, Edward Brooks and wife Lynda of Florien, Robert Brooks and Billy Brooks and wife Jayla, both of Many; two sisters, Beulah Rosier and Elaine Slay, both of DeVille; and eight grandchildren. Mr. Sills was preceded in death by his son, John Louis Sills; and a daughter, Olivia Jane Sills. Pallbearers were Tom Phillips, Floyd Giblin, Wayne Self, Ben DuBose, Billy Colston, John Curtis Sr., and Terry Foshee. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Remedies, George Free, Tony Remedies, John Moore, and Jack Corley. Warren Meadows, Many, La.
