All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Thelma Jackson Salter 3 May 1940 Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Jackson Salter, 32, who died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jackson Thursday, April 24, were held at the First Baptist church at 2:30 Friday with interment in Zion Hill cemetery, Negreet. Rev. C. W. Williams, pastor of First Baptist church, performed the last sad rites. Mrs. Salter was a graduate of Many high school and her classmates were her pallbearers. She has lived with her husband Ernest Salter at their home in Opelousas until recently when she came her to visit with her parents until she fully recovered from a illness which was of several months duration. Her death occurred suddenly. Only her parents were present. Her surviving relatives are her husband, Ernest Salter; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jackson; on sister, Mrs. Morris DeVillier, Opelousas; one brother Charlie Jackson, Barksdale Field; two small nieces and one uncle, E. H. Bolton, Anacoco. The Dennis-Green funeral home had charge of arrangements. The following were the pallbearers: Elden Dees, Glen Phares, LaVern Dailey, George Pace, Charles Williams. The following are the relatives of her husband who attended the funeral: his parents and brothers and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Salter of Negreet, Leon Salter and family of Coushatta, Elton Salter and family of Pleasant Hill, Mrs. Ed Willard of Shreveport, Mrs. Robert Wright and family of Many, Mrs. John LaCour of Beaumont, Texas, Miss Exa Salter and Miss Georgia Salter of Beaumont, Texas, Kirt Salter and wife of Ville Platte, Norman Salter of Opelousas, Miss Juanita Salter of Shreveport, Miss Betty Lou Salter of Negreet; the following uncles and aunts, Mrs. LeRoy Miller, Mrs. W. E. Bryan and Mrs. J. E. Leach of Natchitoches, R. S. Miller and Clifford Miller of Alexandria, Mrs. R. B. Miller of Florien, Ms. Exa Simmons of Elizabeth. Friends from Eunice attending were: Mrs. H. D. DeMoss, Mrs. W. L. Cooper, Mrs. Troy Valentine and Walter Aymond.
