Salter Cecil Hortes Salter, 53, son of Mrs. C. L. Salter, and the late Cecil Love Salter, died of a heart attack, Saturday, March 10th, about 9 p.m., on his way from his home in Shreveport to the hospital. He had called his mother, who lives in Many, about 6 p.m., to congratulate her on her 81st birthday. The funeral was held March 12, at 4 p.m., in the Osborn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Fred Patton, and the Rev. Richard Burnes, both of St. Marks Episcopal Church officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Salter was a native of Negreet. He finished in High School there, and entered the Army A. C. in 1942, and trained at Maskall Field, Kittering, England. He served in Europe, Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He was awarded 12 Battle Stars, and 2 Pres. Citations G. C. M. He was discharged in 1945. He was a resident of Shreveport for 34 years. After the war, he married Miss Erwina Antony of Belcher, and they have two daughters, Cecily, and Susan, all residents of Shreveport. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal church, a member of the Elks Club. He was a veteran of World War II, and at the time of his death, worked with Nolen Motor Company of Bossier City. Pallbearers were Ray Nolen, Austin Bryant, Jesse Brownlee, Voctory Parrish, Bennie Reeves, and N. C. Brownlee Jr.
