All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Rance Ray Salter 25 Aug 1944 - Funeral rites for Rance Ray Salter, age 69, were held at 10 o'clock Sunday morning from the Baptist church at Antioch. Rev. W. G. Bailey officiated. Interment was in the Antioch cemetery under direction of Massingill funeral home. Pallbearers were: Curtis Hildebrand, Herman Salter, Clyde Salter, Harshell Evans, Valry Salter, Jack Salter and Horace Salter, Jr. Surviving are: wife; four sons, Presley R. of Jasper, Texas, James Fred of Longview, Texas, Howard O. of Florien, Woodrow in the air forces at Lincoln, Neb., eight grandchildren. Mr. Salter passed away at the family home near Florien last Friday after a lengthy illness. He was known as Uncle Rance and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Salter also had another son, Carlton, who lost his life in the South Pacific war over a year ago.
