Salter, 77 prominent Mason and a native of Sandersville, Miss, who moved to Louisiana in 1890, died at 9:15, a.m. Monday at Fraser sanitarium, following a short illness. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church here at 10 a.m. Tuesday under the direction of Warren funeral home of Many. Burial was in the Many cemetery with Masonic rites conducted at the graveside. Mr. Salter, who was a member of the First Baptist church, was a Royal Arch Mason and served as master of Little Flock Lodge 236 F and A.M. for a number of years. He was also a member of Sabine Chapter No. 171 O.E.S. His wife died five weeks ago. Surviving are; sons, Leon Salter of Shreveport, Ernest and Elton Salter of Many, Norman and Kirk Salter of Eunice; daughters, Mrs. Devonia Willard of Shreveport, Mrs. Ruth LaCour of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. Leona Wright of Many, Mrs. Georgia Gardner of Beaumont, Texas, Mrs. Thelma Davenport of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Juanita Edwards of Many, Miss Exa Salter of Beaumont, Texas; brothers R. S. Salter of Hornbeck and W. A. Salter of Many; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
