Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ahline Salter of Florien; two daughters, Mrs. Bobbye Sellers, and Mrs. Diane Anthony, both of Florien; four sons, Gene Salter of Many, Ray Salter of Shreveport, and Phil Salter, and Butch Salter, both of Florien; two brothers, P. R. Salter of Jasper, Tex., and Woodrow Salter of Zwolle; 17 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Monday, April 30, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Earl Marr, the Rev. Fred Corey, and the Rev. Fisk Ray officiated. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Melton Wright, Cody Anderson, Larry Carroll, Ben D. Peterson, Melvin Wright, Tim Lyddy, Robert Carroll, and Randy Sandel. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Salter, Dean Craig, M. G. Anthony, Bill Mahaffey, Woodrow McCauslin, Louie Raiford, Gerald Rains, Johnnie Corley, Hamp Youngblood, Ray McKibben, and Dub Law.
