Services were held at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Florien, at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15, 1993, with the Rev. Huey Tarpley, Rev. Mack Brister, and Rev. Marvin Miles officiating. Burial was held in Ebenezer Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Salter was born June 30, 1925, in Florien, La., the son of Johnnie Lee and Bertha Blackwell Salter. A civil service employee for 29 years, Mr. Salter worked as Budget Analyst, and for the last 11 years, has served as Force Modernization Project Officer, Directorate of Resource Management, at Fort Polk, La. He is survived by his wife, Irene Hopkins Salter of Florien, La.; one daughter, Lynn and husband George Johnson of Fisher, La.; one brother, J. B. Salter of Florien, La.; two granddaughters, Michele, and Melissa Johnson; and two great grandchildren, Matthew, and Mallory; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Ronald Braud, James Bison, Bobby Salter, Jason Holcomb, Rep. Joe Salter, and James R. Cook. Honorary pallbearers were D. J. Braud, Coy Holcomb, W. R. Turner, C. R. Anthony, Herman McConathy, J. W. Law, and Earnest Bush.
