All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** George Jefferson Salter Jr. Funeral services for George Jefferson Salter Jr., 75, of Negreet, will be held at 2 p.m., on Jan. 15, at Beulah Baptist Church. Rev. E. E. Walker, and Rev. Kenneth Leach Sr. officiated. Interment was in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Masonic graveside services were conducted at graveside. Mr. Salter passed away on Jan. 13, 1995, at Sabine Medical Center. Mr. Salter was born on July 14, 1919, in Zwolle, to George J. Sr. and Minerva Salter. He was a lifetime resident of Sabine Parish, a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church, a Fifty Year Mason, and a member of the Little Flock Lodge #236, and was a Past District Deputy Master of the 8th Masonic District. Survivors include his widow, Jewel Stroud Salter of Negreet; two sons, Royce Salter of Houston, and Larry Salter of Negreet; one daughter, Georgia Bailey of Houston; two sisters, Audrey Palmer of Houston, and Bertha Stroud of Westlake; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. Pallbearers were Ed Salter, Britt Bailey, Vince May, Carroll Salley, Billy Guay, and George Maxey.
