He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maggie Lea Shawn of Many; seven sons, Vernon Shawn of Plattenville, Homer Shawn of Oiltown, Okla., William Shawn of Washington, Okla., Virgil Shawn, and Harry Shawn, both of Kingman, Kansas, James Shawn of Maud, Okla., ad Marvin Shawn of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Brooks of Many; five sisters, Viola Johnson of Yuicapa, Calif., Mable Batson of Vilonnis, Ark., Bessie Elkins of St. Helena, Calif., Ruby Dunkin of Napa, Calif., and Verna DeCosta of Hayward, Calif.; 26 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Pisgah Baptist Church on Monday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. F. M. Belsha officiating. Burial was in the Clearwater Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Gay Peace, Lambert Carroll, Troy Evans, Ira Smith, Sid Presley, and Homer McNeely.
