C. was conducted by the Rev. Floyd W. Bost at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Mrs. Sain died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1988, in a Hickory area hospital after a period of declining health. Burial was in the church cemetery. Born Feb. 1, 1900, in Catawba County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Kathryn Beard. A homemaker, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Edward Sain, who died in 1953. Survivors include six daughters, Naomi Ruth Hilton and Frankie Bass, both of Rt. 1 Hickory, N.C. Eva Bass of Conoyer, N.C., Kate Hines Eckard of Hickory, Burna Dean Whitener of Cleveland, Tx. and Betty Jean Wright of Florien, La.; two sisters, Winnie Truesdale of Vale, N.C. and Rosa Lea London of Hickory; and three brothers, Herman Beard of Charlotte, N.C. and Glenn and Ralph Beard, both of Hickory. Mrs. Sain was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ophelia Sain; a son, James Richard Sain; and three brothers, J. T. Beard; Lonnie Beard and Vernon Beard. She is survived by 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
