Sims 8 Mar 1946 - Funeral rites for Cecil W. Sims, age 25, were held 3 p.m. Tuesday from Many Methodist church, Rev. Sam Nader, pastor, officiated. Interment was in Fort Jesup cemetery, Massingill funeral home directing. Pallbearers were: M. C. Hall, J. L. McDonald, A. L. Dailey, L. N. Sliman, Lee Jordan, Charles Wright, Edward Wright, Joseph Grappe. Surviving are: widow, Mrs. Vivian Mims, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mims; sister, Mrs. Wilton Anthony, all of Many; two brothers, Martin Mims, Shreveport, and Malcolm Mimms of the U.S. Navy. Mims was drowned Saturday night in Lake Loring while attending a trot line., the boat hung up and capsized. Death was attributed to accidental drowning by Dr. J. K. Phares, coroner. He had served four years in the armed Forces, one year of which was overseas. IN the early part of the war in Germany he was seriously wounded. He was senior vice commander of Ray Miller post Veterans of Foreign Wars.
