B. Tramel last Friday at 8:30 a.m., after a short illness. Mr. Smith was a native of Sabine parish, having been born and reared near Ft. Jesup. His parents were early settlers of this community. He spent his entire life in the parish, doing his part to further the progress the parish has made, having served on the Sabine Parish school board for 12 years. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, the pastor, Rev. W. T. Gray, officiating, assisted by Rev. J. M. Pate, interment being at Ft. Jesup cemetery. Rites at the grave were in charge of the Masons. Active pallbearers: J. W. Lucius, Roy Mims, Robert Jackson, W. Edw. McNeely, Henry Mims, Henry Cain, R. A. Fraser, O. E. Williams. Surviving Mr. Smith are wife and eight children; Carter Smith of Redessa; Mrs. C. H. Hughes of Port Arthur, Texas; Mrs. W. A. Ragan, Phoenix, Ariz; Mrs. A. B. Tramel, Many; Joe Smith, Jr., Robeline; Mrs. Len Mauldin, Port Arthur, Texas; Mrs. Dewey Walker, New Orleans, and Tom Smith of Robeline. Also four brothers and sisters survive: Rev. T. E. Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; Louey Smith, Robeline; Dr. E. C. Smith, Sypress; Geo. Smith, Amarillo, Texas; Mrs. A. B. Cherry, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Jno. Hardee of Gueydan.
