Smith Donald Wetherbee Smith, 51, of Many, died in the Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, Saturday, Jan. 11, following a lengthy illness. Masonic services were held at the Warren Meadows Funeral Chapel, Monday, Jan. 13, at 3 p.m. The Rev. W. V. Sirman officiated, assisted by local masons from Lodge 411 F&AM in Many. Smith was retired out of the United States Marine Corps. He was employed by Vancouver Plywood Co. Inc., in Florien, as Purchasing Manager, since March 1972. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Sudan Temple, all of New Bern, North Carolina, and the Many Rotary Club. Smith, who helped organize the Picayune, Miss. Order of DeMolay Chapter, recieved the Honorary Legion of Honor from the International Supreme Council Order of DeMolay. Survivors include his widow, Lois N. Smith; a daughter, Donna Carolyn Smith; a son, Derek Wetherbee Smith, all of Many; a sister, Barbara Anderson of Connecticut; an aunt, Mrs. Pauline Smith of Lynn, Mass., and several cousins. Full military graveside services were held at Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Va., Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m.
