Funeral services were held at the Cenchrea Nazarene Church, with the Rev. Byron LeJeune, the Rev. William Lipscomb, and the Rev. Louis Skinner officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Surviving relatives include his wife, Cora Smith of Florien; two sons, Elton R. Smith of Florien, and Nolan Smith of Shreveport; four daughters, Mrs. Opal Smith of Florien, Mrs. Theo Peterson of DeRidder, Mrs. Sybil Hardin of Baytown, Tex., and Mrs. Joyce Landrum of Monroe; four brothers, Harlon Smith, and Percy Smith of Flora, Edmon Smith of Provencal, and Morris Smith of Natchitoches; one sister, Mrs. Violine Blain of Minden; 20 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Gary Smith, Galen Smith, Elton Smith Jr., Michael Smith, Freeman Smith, and Carl Hardin. Honorary Pallbearers were Joe Leo, Allen Ellzey, Fred Mechling, Johnny Hanes, and Pruit Arrant.
