Ben Joyner, assisted by Rev. Martin Salisbury, officiating. Burial was in the Highland Cemetery, Mansfield, under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home. Mr. Smith died at 1 p.m., Sunday, July 27, at DeSoto General Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Sabine Parish, and a member of Benson Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was also a retired rural mail carrier. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie M. Smith; one son, Jerry M. Smith, Mansfield; four brothers, Murray Smith, Mansfield, Amos Smith, Gibsland, La., Floyd Smith, Lake Charles, and Claude Smith, Converse, La.; one sister, Mrs. Ada Gossett, Lake Charles; and two grandchildren.
