Vernon Joseph Smith, Sr.

  Mr. Vernon Joseph Smith, Sr., 62, died at his residence in Many,
La., on Feb. 27, 1989.

  Services were held at Warren Meadows Chapel on Tuesday, Feb. 28,
at 10:30 a.m., with Father Buvens officiating.

  Survivors include his wife, Esther Smith of Many; one son,
Vernon Smith, Jr., of Denham Springs, La.; three daughters,
Kathleen Barbin of Port Allen, Marian Bankston of Denham Springs,
and Sharon Beveridge of Baton Rouge; three brothers, John Brice
Smith of Baton Rouge, B. C. Smith of Universal City, Tex, A. J.
Smith of Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Marion Smith Yawn of
Baton Rouge, La., and Marie Louise Young of Pasadena, Calif.
