Mrs. Evie Winn Smith

  Services for Mrs. Evie Winn Smith, 92, of Shreveport, were held
at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street
Chapel. The Rev. Michael Lewis, pastor of Northwoods Baptist
Church, where Mrs. Smith was a member, officiated. Burial was at
Forest Park Cemetery.

  Mrs. Smith, a native of Sabine Parish, La., died Saturday, April
1, 1989, in Shreveport, following an extended illness. She was a
housewife, a former resident of Natchitoches Parish, and had been
a Shreveport resident since 1962.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, H. A. Smith; one son,
R. A. Smith; and one step daughter, Doris Gibson.

  She is survived by one son, Ray Smith of Bossier City; one
daughter, Johnnye Durr of Shreveport; six grandchildren; seven
great grandchildren; a host of friends and neighbors, who knew
her as "Granny Smith".

  Pallbearers were Lawrence Durr, Tim Durr, Dennis Dowden, Gordon
P. Gibson Jr., Gordon P. Gibson III, Chester C. Davis.

  The family suggest memorials may be made to the Louisiana
Baptist Children's Home, Monroe, La.
