All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Julian Curtis Smith, Sr. Julian Curtis Smith, Sr., 82, passed away at Huckaby Hospital in Coushatta, after a long illness, on Dec. 14. Mr. Smith was born January 17, 1909, in Sabine Parish, to John R. and Julia Ann Smith. As a small child, he moved to the M. D. Community near Marthaville, and attended schools in M. D. and Marthaville. As a young man, he married Alice Olive, and from this union, his three children were born. He married Mrs. Corine Ross after returning from World War II, and lived in the Beulah Community until her death. He married Mrs. LaJune Short after the death of Mr. Short, and they made their home in the Toledo Bend Lake area at Many, until his health failed. Since that time, he made his home at the Senior Citizen Center in Coushatta. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta was in charge of the funeral. Services were held at Beulah Methodist Church, at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, with Bro. Foster Jennings officiating. Burial was in Marthaville City Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, LaJune of Pleasant Hill; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margie and Calvin summers of Malakoff, Tex., Mabel and John Simmons of Evans, Ga.; one son, Julian C. Smith Jr. of Augusta, Ga.; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; a number of step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
