Sandel. The body was found by Raymond West, and R. L. Wolf of Warren Meadows Funeral Home, who were returning from a fishing trip. Sheriff Sandel said Smith had been missing for about two weeks. The sheriff said Smith's wife said he "just got in the car and drove off, about 12 or 1 a.m., and she hadn't seen him since." He was driving a 1968 Buick Rivera, the sheriff said, and attempts have been made by dragging, diving, and by the use of magnets, to locate the car in the lake, but all attempts have failed. Sheriff Sandel said the water is up to 60 ft. deep in some places. The sheriff said a Dr. Henderson, a pathologist in Nacogdoches, Tex., performed the autopsy on Smith, and said there was no evidence of foul play. The time of Smith's death has not been determined, said the sheriff.
