Mr. Sneed and his family moved to west Texas in 1908, and moved by train to Fisher, Dec. 24, 1917. Mr. Sneed started working part time at the Fisher Mill in 1918. He was Section Foreman for the railroad. He was employed at the Fisher Mill in 1921, and worked as a Labor Foreman. In 1934, he was promoted to Woods Foreman, and held that position until 1967, at which time he was promoted back to the sawmill. He remained at the mill until his retirement on August 1, 1969. A treasured souvenir in the Sneed home is a cup. Mr. Sneed dug forty feet under the ground digging a well for Four L. Lumber Co. He returned back to work with Vancouver Plywood Co. during the early stages of the Florien Log Utilization Center Construction, to assist in the building of additional spur tracks for the chip cars. On Nov. 12, 1971, he was employed at the Main Office over clean-up. He was responsible for the keeping of the Main Office, Personnel Office, and Guard Office, and the landscape around the Main Office, and was at work in the Main Office at the time of his death, Jan. 8, 1975, where he never missed a day's work due to illness. Mr. Sneed was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At the early age of eight, he became a member of the church in west Texas, and started to work helping care for the widows and orphans of the church who was in need. Mr. Sneed was an Elder, and was Sunday School Supt. For 18 years. He filled five two year missions at his own expense, and also helped the Traveling Elders during their time in Sabine Parish. Mr. Sneed had some wonderful memories of his church work as baptizing his wife and daughter, and a 92 year old man, and blessing his great grandson, Johnathan Michael Sneed, Dec. 25, 1974. Mr. Sneed always said after the age of seven, if he lived for the Lord, he could heal the sick. He has some true witness for that being the Lord's care. May 12, 1921, Clyde Holman Sneed Sr. and Bessie Lee Landrum, daughter of the late Franklin Plumar Landrum and Mary Francis Self, were married. They were blessed with five children; two sons, Arthur O'Sell Sneed of Jennings, and Clyde Holman Sneed Jr.; three daughters, Orene Harris of Lake Charles, Francis Loree Jackson of El Dorado, Ark., and Quinda Sue Sandel of Florien. He had six grandsons, Charles Clifford Harris, Arthur O'Sell Sneed Jr., Terry Dwayne Sneed, Jerry Wayne Sneed, David Lynn Sneed, and Phillip Holman Sneed; one granddaughter, Darlene Sue Harris; two great grandsons, Bryan Lamar Harris, and Johnathan Michael Sneed; six brothers, Claude Sneed of Many, Barney, and Jessie Sneed of Los Angeles, Calif., Jacob Sneed of Oakland, Calif., Leon Sneed of Hornbeck, and Elton Sneed of Zwolle; three sisters, Maude Starks of Mesa, Ariz., Lena Starks of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Blanche McDaniel of Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Sneed's funeral services were held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Glen Hardy, Elder Fred Wagley, and Elder Mack Hayes Jr., presiding. Pallbearers were his six grandsons, and two friends, Steven Powell, and Glen Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Miller, Richard Cox, Benny McNeely, Ronnie Broadway, and Glen Salter. Burial was at the Florien Cemetery on Jan. 9, 1975.
