She was the daughter of Needham Lee and Lydia Ansly Rogers and was married on Feb. 16, 1882 to John Monroe Sandel. Her husband had also passed to that great beyond and the three were already waiting for her in the city supernal. Mother had spent most of her life near Florien, La. and was a member of Prospect Methodist church. Her patient life of faith, hope, and love was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was laid to rest on April 26 in Prospect cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Cecil Kennedy and Rev. A. H. Hoffpauir with special singing by Rev. Henry Isgitt. Pallbearers were her grandsons. Survivors include eight children and one brother, Oliver, Addison and Ira Sandel, Ella Bush and Ansley Chism of Florien; Jane Bolton, Elizabeth Clawson and Emma Curtis of Hornbeck; Cullen Lee of Natchitoches; forty grandchildren, seventy great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
