Sandel Graveside services for Mr. Clarence C. Sandel, 83, were held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 15, under the direction of Wellman Funeral Home. Burial was in the Prospect Cemetery of Florien. Mr. Sandel died Sunday, June 14, at Pierremont Heritage Nursing Home, after a long illness. Born at Florien, he was a resident of Shreveport since 1922. He was a retired general building contractor. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, and a Mason. He built a number of commercial buildings in Shreveport. In 1945, he and his son-in-law, George F. Lastrapes, formed the partnership of Sandel and Lastrapes. In 1958, he was appointed by Gov. Earl K. Long, to the Caddo Parish Police Jury, and in 1963 Gov. Jimmy Davis appointed Mr. Sandel to the Caddo Levee Board. He served in the Merchant Marines in World War I. Survivors include his widow, Florence F. Sandel, Shreveport; two daughters, Mrs. G. F. Lastrapes, and Etoyle S. Ballard, Shreveport; two brothers, Marvin Sandel, and J. Y Sandel, Florien; one sister, Mrs. A. D. Miller, Florien; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild
