William Sandell, born in the state of Mississippi, Nov. 19th, 1827, making him at death 74 years 2 months, and six days old. Brother Fletcher was married to Miss Mary Jane Conerly on July 27, 1852. To this Union was given five children, all of whom were still living, but one son, who died just a few days before his father. Bro. Sandell had been an invalid for a number of years, having been paralyzed in the side the 5th day of September 1884,but in all the time of affliction, he bore it with Christian fortitude. He was brought up by Christian parents and thus he attached himself to the M.E. Methodist Church South in early life, and ever afterward lived a consistent member of the same. As long as he was able, he was an active worker in his church, especially in the song service. Well do I remember at a revival service, at old Holly Grove church ,when Bro. Fletcher got happy and stood in the altar and sang alone. "When I set out for glory, I left this world behind, Determined for a city, that's out of sight to find, And to glory In will go " And now we have no doubt but his departed spirit fully realizes the sentiment of the song. Thus another Christian man having lived his allotted time and more has crossed over the Jordan of death to be at rest forever more. May the Lord sustain his afflicted and bereaved companion with her dear children ,realizing their loss, is his eternal gain.
