All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index Cora Russell Sanders - May 19, 1988 Mrs. Cora Russell Sanders, 98, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Thursday, May 12, at Pine Bluff Nursing Home. Born August 12, 1889, near Bernice, La., she was the daughter of the late James Manuel and Rebecca Elizabeth Russell. She was the widow of Marshall H. Sanders. Mrs. Sanders was reared and educated in Noble, La. She married Mr. Sanders, a widower with two children in 1909. They lived in Noble several years before moving to Oak Grove, near Converse, La. where they lived until 1924 when they moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She united with the Immanuel Baptist Chruch, remaining a member there until her death. Survivors include sons, Emmett and Dudley Sanders both of Hot Springs; Paul Sanders of Natchitoches, and step-son Taribble Sanders of Shreveport, daughters, Opal Ferguson, Ethelene Matluck, both of Pine Bluff, Ava Thompson of Houston, Texas, Jewell Hutt of Chattanooga, Tenn. and step daughter Neda Bailey of Shreveport, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary with Dr. David Moore officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Pine Bluff. Pallbearers were grandsons. Both the Sanders and Russell families have many friends in Sabine Parish.
