Sanders were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 10, 1993, at the Springridge Baptist Church, with Rev. Gerald Roberts officiating, assisted by Rev. Charles Duncan. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. Sanders died Thursday, July 8, 1993, in Mansfield, after a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, a retired educator with Sabine Parish Schools, a deacon of the Springridge Baptist Church, and World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife, Corrine Smith Sanders of Pleasant Hill; five sons, Dr. Fred S. Sanders Jr. of Lottie La., Oliver Ray Sanders of Houma, La., David G. Sanders of Gonzales, La., Terry Sanders of Walker, La., Jerry Sanders of Denham Springs, La.; two brothers, Chief Justice (Retired) Joe W. Sanders of Baton Rouge, La., and Frank T. Sanders of Pleasant Hill; ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers were Sidney Sanders, Dr. Fred S. Sanders Jr., Oliver Ray Sanders, David G. Sanders, Terry Sanders, and Jerry Sanders. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of the Springridge Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Clara Springs Baptist Encampment.
