Sanders, age 47, were held last Sunday, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Converse, with the Rev. J. C. Salley, and Rev. Jerry Schmucker officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Funeral Home. Survivors included his widow, Mrs. Rita M. Sanders; one son, Sidney Sanders; one daughter, Mrs. Elsia Rita Crapanzano, all of Baton Rouge; father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Sanders, Pleasant Hill; three brothers, State Supreme Court Justice Joe W. Sanders of Baton Rouge, Fred, and Frank Sanders of Pleasant Hill; three sisters, Mrs. Ozzie Lee McIntyre, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Lola Mae Dyer, Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Sally DeMers, New Orleans; and one grandchild. Pallbearers were Sheriff T. M. Phillips, M. L. Walden, Curtis Walden, Guy Snelling, Hoyt Dillard, Johnny Murry, Polk Rivers, and R. J. Stoker. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Sabine Parish Medical Association, Judge Wm. H. Ponder, Judge John S. Pickett, and all public officials of Sabine Parish. Dr. Sanders died unexpectedly last Friday at his home in Pleasant Hill, from a heart attack. He has been associated with the Allen Sanitarium since 1936. He was the nephew of the founder of the sanitarium, Dr. W. G. Allen. The body lay in state at the Warren Funeral Home in Many, until noon Sunday, when it was removed to the First Baptist Church at Converse.
