All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Roy Skinner (Photo) Mr. Roy Skinner, 69, died in a Lake Charles hospital Sunday, Sept. 10, at 3:20 a.m., after an extended illness. Mr. Skinner was a lifelong resident of Sabine Parish, and was employed by the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Department many years. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m., in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Phillip Tisdale, the Rev. J. C. Edwards, and the Rev. Billy White officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be sent to the Masonic Children's Home, in his memory. Surviving relatives of Mr. Skinner are one son, Billy Ray Skinner of Florien; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Marie Austin of Sulphur, and Mrs. Jo Ann Wright of Many; three brothers, Monroe Skinner of Florien, Louis Skinner of Coushatta, and Jeff Skinner of West Virginia; seven sisters, Mrs. Cora Smith, Mrs. Melva Curry, Mrs. Bessie Weldon, Mrs. Exie Anderson, Mrs. Elta Wyatt, and Mrs. Ibertia Mothershed, all of Florien, and Mrs. Pearlie Dupree of Logansport; and 11 grandchildren. Pallbearers were C. J. Miller, Dick Underdown, George Cook, Jimmy Ray Pleasant, Floyd Terrell, and Alfice Brumley. All members of the Sheriff's Department and City Police Department were honorary pallbearers.
