SoRelle 9 Jan 1942 - Bernis S. SoRelle, one of the southwest's best known oil men, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4. The son of Judge and Mrs. Don E. SoRelle of Many, he left his father's law firm for the oil business in 1910. He rose swiftly from oil scout to executive positions, during which time he live at Shreveport, Beaumont, Houston, Mexia and Fort Worth. At Beaumont he was assistant in charge of Gulf Oil company's land, geological and scouting department, from which he resigned to become general superintendent of the Invincible company (now Louisiana Oil & Refining company) and its Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma subsidiaries with headquarters at Houston. Sims Oil company next acquired him as general manager, at which time he lived in Shreveport. In 1924 he resigned to become general manager of Purl Oil company, living first at Mexie and later at Fort Worth. He retained this position until his retirement a few years ago. He was 58 years of age. He leaves his widow; three sons, Don, Layton and Jack; four daughter, Bernice, Marion Elizabeth, Martha Louisa and Patricia; three sister, Mrs. Milton Talbot of Leesville, Mrs. Claudia Cleveland of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Wm. E. Brogan of New Orleans; one brother, Andrew C. SoRelle of Houston, Texas; his father, Judge Don E. SoRelle of Houston, Texas. Funeral services were held at Cox funeral home, Dallas, Texas, at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
