  8 Sep 1944 - Funeral rites for Barbara Elizabeth Bray age six
years, were held last Wednesday evening at two o'clock at Aimwell
Baptist church, Rev. G. J. Jones officiated, funeral in charge of
Massingill funeral home.

  Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Bray of near
Zwolle; grandparents, Mrs. E. C. Bray of Zwolle, Mr. and Mrs. G.
H. Branch of Holly Ridge.

  20 Sep 1944 - Funeral rites for Joseph Peyton Tyler, age 70
years, were held at 2 p.m. last Friday at the Baptist church,
Bayou Scie. Rev. Joe Flanagan officiated. Massingill funeral home
in charge, interment Bayou Scie cemetery.

  Surviving are: wife; three sons, C. J. Tyler, Sour Lake,
Texas, R. L. and Joseph Tyler, Many; four daughters, Mrs. Bertha
Simpson, New Mexico, Mrs. Myrtis Rains, Shreveport, Mrs. W. G.
Allen, Zwolle, Mrs. Nan Ford, Texas; two brothers, Tom Tyler,
Silsbee, Texas, John Tyler, address unknown; 18 grandchildren,
three great-grandchildren.

  22 Sep 1944 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Lula Bell Stewart, age
68 years, were held Tuesday, Sept. 12 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Carmel
Baptist church, Rev. Martin Smith officiated, assisted by Rev.
Ray Brown. Massingill funeral home directing, interment Mt.
Carmel cemetery.

  Surviving are: husband, J. R. Stewart, Robeline; two
daughters, Mrs. T. E. Strain, Shreveport and Mrs. T. Mobley,
Robeline; four brothers, Willie, Joe, Lee and Ira Self, all of
Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Joe Smith and Mrs. Willie Platte,
Robeline, Mrs. Jim Nesom and Mrs. Mary Hardin, Texas and
grandchildren, Mrs. E. T. Cutrer of Shreveport, Mrs. Richey of
San Augustine, Fla., Cadet Thomas E. Strain, Jr., and James
Robert Strain, New Orleans Medical school, Miss Lucy Strain, all
of Shreveport; one great-grandchild, Marvin Thomas Cutrer,
Bossier City.

  Pallbearers were: Joe Smith, Joe Crockett, J. P.

The Sabine Index - Pvt. Hoyt C. Eason

  29 Sep 1944 - Pvt. Hoyt C. Eason, son of Mr. and Mrs. Buck
Eason of Many, route one, was killed in action Sept. 4 somewhere
in Belgium. Hoyt was 25 years of age, had been in service three
years and eight months.

  He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lena Baldwin and Mrs.
Tabitha Maxey; one brother, Jack Eason, all of Many route one;
also four nieces, six nephews and a host of friends.

  29 Sep 1944 - Last rites for Valentine T. Leach, age 33
years, were held at Little Flock Baptist church at 3 p.m. Monday.
Rev. W. G. Bailey officiated. Massingill funeral Home directing,
interment Little Flock cemetery. Pallbearers were his brothers.

  Surviving are: wife Mrs. Ethel Leach, two daughters, Winnifred
and ? of Houston, Texas; brothers, Glen, Mack, Arthur, Imon,
Pearson, all of Houston, Texas, George of Memphis, Tenn.,
Clarence of Hornbeck, Claude of Leesville; sisters, Mrs. Alice
Dabbs, Waco, Texas, Mrs. Hazel Withers, Shreveport, Mrs. Alpha
Sockholm and Mrs. Isabel Maddox, Houston, Texas, Mrs. Burty of
Florien.
