All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. Burnie Lee Tabor Funeral services for Burnie Lee Tabor were held Friday, Feb. 27, 1998 at Trinity Baptist Church in Fort Jesup. He passed away at his residence on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 25. Burnie Lee was born July 7, 1914, in Belmont and graduated from Many High School in 1931. After high school, he joined his father and brothers in the logging and timber business. He was inducted into the U. S. Army in November 1942. He served in World War II as a staff sergeant with the 329th Engineering Combat Battalion. He received a Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and an European African Middle Eastern Services Medal. Upon his return from the war in November 1945, he joined the Louisiana State Police Troop H. Upon leaving his job as a state trooper, he became employed with Hodges Gardens during the construction phase and transferred to Boise when they assumed timber management of Hodges Garden. He was employed there for 26 years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School and Training Union Secretary. He was actively involved in the commodity program of the Sabine Awareness Council for many years. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Berta Ann Tabor, and the many friends he acquired over his 83 years. Warren Meadows Many, La.
