Tabor, 68, died at the Natchitoches Parish Hospital in Natchitoches, Thursday, May 27. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 29, at Friendship Church of the Nazarene in Robeline. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and mentor to all who knew her, Mrs. Tabor is survived by her husband, Billy James "Buddy" Tabor; a daughter, Donna Beth Tabor Carter of Baton Rouge; a son, James Stanley Tabor of Many; three grandchildren, Ashley Rene Carter, Anthony Craig Carter Jr., and James Stanley Tabor II of Many; and two sisters, Joye Parrish of Marshall, Texas, and Carolyn Steele and husband Billy of Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Gertie Smith; and a son, William Bruce Tabor. Mrs. Tabor was a resident of Many, and attended Friendship Church of the Nazarene, and was a longtime member of Alford Heights Baptist Church. She was an educator, and Guidance Counselor for 24 years, for the Sabine Parish School System. She served for 16 years on the Sabine Parish School Board, serving both as its president, and vice president during her terms of office. Mrs. Tabor served on the State School Board Legislative Committee for the years of 1982-98. She was a true public servant, doing much for her community, and in many capacities. She was on the Fort Jesup Cemetery Committee, served on the Board of Directors of Sabine Medical Center, and as an extension of her true love, teaching, she was a Sunday School teacher for several of the area churches.
