  Services for Mrs. Vernie Weldon Thaxton, 72, were held at 3
p.m., Wednesday, July 28, 1993, at Cenchrea Church of the
Nazarene. Officiating was Rev. Ron Berry, and Rev. Larry Deloach.
Burial followed in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, under the direction of
Warren Meadows Funeral Home.

  Mrs. Thaxton died Monday, July 26, 1993, in Florien.

  She is survived by her husband, Evon R. Thaxton of Florien; four
sons, Gerald Thaxton and his wife Evon of Florien, Charlie
Thaxton of Florien, John David Thaxton and his wife Glenda of
Many, and Douglas Thaxton and his wife Louise of Florien; four
daughters, Betty Browning and her husband Elvis of Florien, Helen
Ellzey and her husband Carroll of Florien, Ruth Sparks and her
husband Dennis of Florien, and Gwenda Sepulvado and her husband
Joe Pat of Zwolle; one sister, Bertie Taylor of Tulsa, Okla.; one
brother, Ira Weldon of Florien; twenty three grandchildren; ten
great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
