Tidwell Jr., died at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, La., at 6:15 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6, 1982. He was 56 years old. Survivors include his wife, Aloyesse Dew Tidwell of Many; one son, Chris Tidwell of Many; his parents, Brother and Mrs. B. J. Tidwell Sr. of Many; two brothers, Needham E. Tidwell, and James E. Tidwell, both of Many; and three sisters; Hazel Pickel of Temple, Tex., Ruth Cole of DeRidder, and Jean Davis of Natchitoches. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m., at the Many Church of Christ, with the Rev. Leon Bates, and the Rev. Joe Ratcliff officiating. Burial was in the Many Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Tidwell's body was taken to the church Tuesday evening, to lie in state until service time on Thursday. Pallbearers were Roy Pass Jr., Leslie Lites, Ralph Jones, George Strickland, Mike Shirley, Wayne Horton, Jim Smith Sr., and J. J. Blake III, (representing John Blake Jr.) Honorary pallbearers were William Cooper, Jr., Elsie Cooper, Floyd Edmonson, Bernice Lightfoot, and J. D. Edmonson. Mr. Tidwell, a prominent Many Businessman, was owner of Many Lumber Co., a member of the Many Church of Christ, where he faithfully served in various leadership and teaching roles throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation through Many Lumber Co.
