Tidwell, 85, of Haughton, La., died in a Shreveport hospital at 2:45 p.m., Jan. 17, after a long illness. Mr. Tidwell was born in Union Parish, La., and spent most of his life in the state, having lived at Haughton for 36 years. He was an ordained minister of the gospel, and was affiliated with the Pease Chapel Church of Christ, which he established after moving to Haughton. Besides his church work, he was a retired sawmill man and farmer, a great lover of sports, especially of fishing and hunting. Funeral services were conducted in the Pease Chapel Church building by Bro. J. R. Mayner of Rodessa, at 2:30, Jan. 18, 1956. A large family, and a host of friends mourn his passing. Survivors are Mrs. E. A. Tidwell, wife, of 112 Hamilton St., Shreveport, La.; sons, M. E. Tidwell of Haughton, Route 1, H. K. Tidwell of Chandelier, Tex., B. J. Tidwell of Many, T. J. Tidwell of Newellton; daughters, Mrs. P. E. Beard of Haughton, Rt. 1, Mrs. G. B. Parmer of 112 Hamilton St. Shreveport, Mrs. J. E. Welch of Bossier City; 63 grandchildren; 89 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren living, and was preceded in death by two sons.
