All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. Ira Payne Taylor (Photo) Mr. Ira Payne Taylor, 81, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, of a stroke, at Memorial Medical Center in Metairie. Services were held at Leitz Egan Funeral Home, and burial was at Garden of Memories in Metairie, Nov. 13. Mr. Taylor was a retired manager of Caterpillar Tractor Co. He lived in Shreveport for 23 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Supt., Youth Director, and the Men's Brotherhood. Mr. Taylor was active in community affairs, a past president of the South Shreveport Rotary Club, the Elmwood Industrial Assn., and secretary/treasurer of the Metairie Chapter of AARP. Mr. Taylor moved to Metairie in 1970, and there, was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon until his death. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen Wingo Taylor. Survivors include his widow, Sarah Taylor; one son, Charles Winston Taylor and wife Margaret of New Orleans; one daughter, Ann Taylor Anderson and husband J. B. of Florien; two brothers, Walton G. Taylor of Kenosha, Wis., and William Edward Taylor of Aberdeen, Miss.; two grandchildren, David Wayne Allen of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Wendy Taylor of New Orleans. Mr. Taylor was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
