Taylor (Photo) Funeral services were held Friday, May 21, at 10 a.m., for Sylvester Madison Taylor, 57, in the Many Methodist Church, with the Rev. W. H. Bengston officiating. He died in the family residence at 1:55 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 1965. He was buried at Many Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Graveside services were held by Masonic Lodge No. 411 F&AM. Pallbearers were George Cook, Judge Wm. H. Ponder, Judge John Pickett, Ruell Boone, J. C. Ritter Jr., T. D. Nichols, Sheriff T. M. Phillips, and J. E. Wright. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carro J. Taylor; one brother, L. A. Taylor of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. J. C. Peterson of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. T. C. Skipp of Fort Summer, New Mexico; one nephew, Col. William L. Gregory, Houston, Texas; two nieces, Mrs. Judd Kirkham, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Rex Jasper of Lubbock, Texas. He was a member of First Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 41, F&AM, Shuves of the Shreveport 1 Kasuba Consistery. He served as Deputy District Grand Master for the 8th District. He also served as Deputy Tax Assessor of Sabine Parish for ten years. He was interested in the Sabine Parish oil business.
