The Sabine Index - A. S. Tompkins

  16 Aug 1940 - Last rites for A. S. Tompkins, age 70 years, were held
last Friday at 10 o'clock at Ebenezer with Rev. W. G. Bailey
officiating.  Funeral directed by the Dennis-Green funeral home,
interment Ebenezer cemetery.

  Active pallbearers were G. B. Arrington, Amos Knippers, O. M.
Miller,  Dave Leach, Jarvis Westbrook, LeRoy Williams, Amos McLanahan
and John Wright.

  Honorary pallbearers were T. W. Wright, Joe Dover, Dr. W. D. Lester,
W. M. Knott, George Sirman, J. J. Blake, J. B. Vandegaer, E. A. Bush,
W. Y. McConathy, O. E. Williams, O. A. Horn and B. J. Miller.

  Surviving are the widow; four sons, Horace of Many, Hoyt and John H.
of Shreveport, and Herbert of Florien; three daughters, Mrs. Claudie
McCormick of Many, Mrs. Reece Bray of Zwolle, and Mrs. Vernice Wright
of Florien; two sisters, Mrs. A. Leach, Anacoco, and Mrs. Annie
Robinson of Negreet.
